Guest guest
Two-Week Community Camp Intensive, $700 June 11-22, 2012 or July 30-August 10, 2012, 9am-2pm Join Social Skills Playhouse for one or both of our experiential community-based summer camps. We aim to fine tune, practice, and generalize our P.E.O.P.L.E. curriculum out in the community while having fun and making lasting friendships. Camps are targeted to serve 25-30 students with typical peers and five Social Coaches. These fun-filled days will take place at specific community locations such as martial arts classes, movies, library, etc. Students are grouped in smaller teams or “cohorts†of approximately six similarly-aged peers led by a Social Coach. We will have at least one girls’ cohort (ages 8-13) and four boys’ cohorts (ages 5-7, 8-10, 11-12, and 13-16). Each team acts as a small peer group that bonds, tests each other's skills, and functions as a cohesive support system. Our Daily Schedule at a Glance: 9:00-10:00am Present the morning lesson (i.e., problem solving techniques) 10:00-10:30am Sensory/water break (please pack plenty of water) and nutritious gluten-free snack (provided by SSP) 10:30-11:30am Experiential application of lesson (obstacle course creation and races, etc.) 11:30-12:15pm Brown bag lunch brought from home 12:15-1:30pm In-depth exploration of morning lesson in teams (building, art, production, robotics, comic strip creation) 1:30-2:00pm Completion of each student’s Daily Tracking Sheets and Action Plan Reflection 2:00-4:00pm Aftercare is available for an additional fee of $10/hour Sensory-Friendly Summer Workshops, $325 June 6-28, 2012 Wednesdays at Cunae International School (The Woodlands) 4:30-6:00pm Thursdays at Lighthouse Learning and Resource (CyFair) 5:00-6:30pm Workshops are geared towards students who are not able to engage in our day camp due to age, sensory, or other special education needs. The four 90-minute workshops will have 4-6 students with at least one Social Coach.
