Guest guest
Jon, Our thoughts and prayers are w/ you and your department. Our thoughts are also w/ 's family as well as the family of the girl involved. One of the worst things i can imagine is taking a call for someone i know. Last week i had a panicked woman on the phone stating her elderly father in-law had gone for a drive @ 0700 and it was now 1500 and he had not returned. i started asking the usual questions, when the person I.D.'d herself as my mother in law. my wifes grandfather who should not be driving (i have stated my point of veiw to them w/ the usual, " he would not know what to do w/ himself " objections)he has been in numerous accidents which are never his fault, they technically aren't. he al\ways gets side swiped or something but does not have the reflexes to avoid them. But anyways, i was glad it was not my jurisdiction (e lives about 20 miles away) so i did not have to handle it, i placed the customary calls to friends i have that were working in area departments to let them know, who the " missing old man was " . even so i was kind of on the edge of my seat and real nervous until, my mother in law called back about an hour later to say he had returned. apparently he had gotten caught up in beach traffic, which is understandable, but the beach is 20 miles east, and he got lost and ended up at the beach by accident. oh well, another case solved.
