I am happy to announce this call for volunteers and/or second year interns interested in providing art psychotherapy services for the Mental Health & Substance Use Counseling Program at Gay Men's Health Crisis (GMHC). In this setting, clinicians will provide art psychotherapy services to a diverse population of adults (men and women) with a broad range of presenting problems and diagnoses. Volunteers/interns will have the opportunity to provide the following services to clients: biopsychosocial assessments and weekly psychotherapy for individuals, couples, and groups. Candidates must possess the following requirements: - Hold a masters’ level degree from an accredited Art Therapy/Expressive Arts Therapy program or be enrolled as a second year student in an accredited graduate level Art Therapy/Expressive Art Therapy program. - Previous experience providing services to an adult population. Experience working with HIV and LGBT populations preferred. Spanish speaking is a plus. Interest in technology as related to art therapy is a plus. - Ability to make a minimum commitment of 6 months, 2 days per week to the agency (hours are flexible and will be arranged based on the volunteer/intern's availability and supervisory needs). The ability to start this summer is a plus. In exchange for volunteering/interning candidate will receive: -Weekly individual clinical/administrative supervision by an ATR-BC, LCAT (hours will count towards LCAT or masters level program requirements) -An opportunity for a broad range of clinical opportunities -Opportunity to work with a dynamic team of clinical social workers, art therapists, and mental health counselors -Opportunity to attend weekly mental health team meetings, monthly staff meetings and professional development trainings held throughout the year on a broad range of clinical topics related to the client base -Quality supervision with a supportive and caring supervisor who graduated from the School of the Art Institute in Chicago and who has been supervising volunteers/interns for many years.
