Guest guest
Hello all, After spending six years living in San Francisco, I relocated to Connecticut (my home state) in February 2011. While living in San Francisco I received a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy specializing in Art Therapy, completed in December 2010. I will be moving to NYC asap and am currently looking for any and all positions related to art therapy in the NY metro area. Below is a brief description of my skills and interests: During my practicum at Circle of Care in Oakland, CA I worked extensively with children and families coping with life-threatening illness, loss, bereavement, or trauma. My practicum experience also included working with a socio-culturally diverse student population at an East Oakland elementary school. Circle of Care also acted as a support sponsor for my thesis grant proposal: A cognitive-behavioral and narrative approach to art therapy to reduce anxiety in siblings of children with cancer. Prior to moving to San Francisco, I was an art teacher at a Middle School in a New Haven suburb. During my tenure as an art teacher I developed an excellent rapport with parents, students, and faculty that allowed for interdisciplinary connections between art and other academic subjects. The experience of working as an art teacher with adolescent students was the catalyst that led me to pursue a Master's in Art Therapy. In my personal life I am a yoga enthusiast, which brings a necessary respite from daily demands. Also an avid runner, I've participated in two half-marathons benefiting the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. I also enjoy surrounding myself with art and culture, and enjoy trying out new restaurants in and around New York City. Thank you for your time, carriem80@...
