Guest guest
I am a first year Art Therapy graduate student starting at NYU this fall who is currently searching for fieldwork. I recently transitioned from San Francisco to New York. I graduated from Parsons with a degree in Fine Art in 2007. Following graduation, I went to Rwanda where I created and taught self-identity art workshops to the children with Rwanda Works. The experience has never left me. I have spent the past few years developing and showing my own work in California while also doing tremendous personal healing and gaining new levels of self-awareness. In my own journey of recovery, I addressed hidden wounds from my childhood past, physically abusive ex husband, and alcohol addiction. I have been able to have a compassionate and loving relationship with myself again with the daily practice of mindfulness and gratitude along with tools I acquired in my own therapy process. Today I am sober and creating my artwork with a whole new sense of passion and connection. I have a strong eagerness to educate myself further in the history, theories, and science of psychology, and am currently enrolled in a summer course at the New School. I also want to continue to be an aware observer of understanding the human experience (mind and behavior). The more I can be in a state of non-judgmental curiosity with myself the more I feel I will be able to relate with empathy and healthy boundaries working in the arts to be a vessel for others to be able to help themselves in the healing process in my future as an art therapist. Please let me know if anyone is currently taking on an intern for the fall and feels I could be a contribution. Sincerely, Karli Henneman karlykarlytta@...
