Guest guest
Sharon, MANY drugs are still on the market that can & DO injure people....esp. in the wrong dosages. Did you know that plain old tylenol is VERY toxic to the liver, if taken in high enough dosages? Just an example--it's why we should ALL ask our docs, before taking any meds., since we're not physicians ourselves. Even a plain old aspirin could kill a person, if the conditions were right.....!! Guest guest
Here, here. In 1991 I got a miswritten prescription label for digoxin at a REGULAR pharmacy - I was supposed to take the pill 1x a day and the label said 4x. This was immediately after my first heart valve surgery, and I felt like crap, but I kinda figured you feel like crap after they get you wired back together. I took a month's worth of drugs in a week - I couldn't digest food properly for weeks, and hallucinated for about 8 months...we know from reports that this sort of mistake happens at a scarily high rate, a rate I suspect is MUCH higher than the mistakes they find at locally-run compounding pharmacies. Sure, it's worth calling the mistake to people's attention - it's a HUGE error, but it's not appropriate to damn this whole part of the industry based on this kind of error when errors abound elsewhere. ~Haley tigerpaw2c <tigerpaw2c@...> wrote: I'm sorry that 3 people died from a lethal dose of medication, but that is not a reason to condemn all compounding pharmacies. Where is the CDC report on " regulated " pharmacies results of patients either becoming extremely ill or dying because of medication. Not to mention how many times the hospitals, doctors, clinics etc., prescribe wrong medications, can't read the doctors handwriting and administer the wrong medication. When will the CDC put out a report on how many people they have killed as a result of denying illnesses! Up till now no one has been regulating them. Guest guest
You're very lucky you survived that week. That was a HUGE mistake & it's unfortunate that it wasn't caught by someone before you ingested such a cardiac specific drug. I'm glad you're ok.
