Guest guest
What is the difference between colonized fungi and fungal infection? Is infection just an easier word for the Dr's to digest? ginloi <ginloi@...> wrote: This is a very interesting article and the patients were lucky because the docs recognized and treated the fungal infection. Guest guest
I think colonized vs infection means you can carry a bacteria, virus, fungus, but not get sick from it: ex: most hospital workers(nurses)have MRSA colonized in their nose, but don't become ill from it..that's my understanding! Guest guest
In my case getting rid of the colonization made me feel a lot better because I was colonized by a toxin forming MRSA superbug. It cultured as resistant to 7 different antibiotic families so I was lucky to get rid of it. MRSA colonization can definitely make a person fell ill without causing infection IME. Guest guest
Did you get rid of it with anti-fungals or antibiotics? I tested positive for MARCONs, but almost died on the antibiotic mix nasal spray I was given. I recently was informed that for fungal colonization using antibiotics won't help because fungus isn't bacteria. arlene lostonthebeach925 <lostonthebeach925@...> wrote: In my case getting rid of the colonization made me feel a lot better because I was colonized by a toxin forming MRSA superbug. Guest guest
I think that the fact that these people received care in Canada is crucial. They were lucky that they were there and not here. The healthcare system here is in a state of crisis. Many mold caused illnesses are diagnoses of exclusion which means that a person's doctor has to keep excluding possibilities one by one.. They may give you tests for a few things, the low hanging fruit, but if those tests draw blanks and don't find the cause, you have to keep pressing them to find whats ill with you, it won't happen without a superhuman effort on the patient's part. And that is very hard to do when you are sick. How the needed advances in scientific knowledge can come out of the current process, I am having trouble seeing. For example, there is no database tracking mold illness because it officially does not exist. People who have mold illness are officially sent to the ACOEM which is on the record as saying mold illness doesn't exist, so it stands to reason that there is NO database to track them. That should raise eyebrows but it doesn't. Or if it does, those doctors who lend us their ears get criticized themselves. The only thing I can think of is that they must be hiding something awfully terrible or they would not be putting so much effort into denying this situation. Guest guest
Arlene, MRSA is Methlocillin Resistant Staph Aureus, a bacteria that needs to be treated w/an antibiotic that it's sensitive to. Don't know what MARCON's is?? Can you elaborate? S, Glad you shared that; didn't know being colonized would give you symptoms. Guest guest
What i find interesting about this, the fact that it is usually tropical! Where they found it is just south of me. Soooooo. it makes me wonder if that didn't come off one the many cruise ships that travel through here from all over the world(mainly tropical). They first found this in 1998 when the boom of Cruise ships travel from Canada to southeast Alaska really took off. Canada's environmental laws are not as strict as ours. So they dump a lot of toxic stuff off those ships. No telling what other tropical goodies they will find soon. Well at least they have Dr.s who can treat this.
