Guest guest
Family Worried After Moldy Mattress Discovery October 11, 2007 Fox 12 Oregon,PORTLAND, Ore http://www.kptv.com/news/14323784/detail.html PORTLAND, Ore. -- Some families will shell out plenty of cash for a quality mattress. After doing so, they don't expect to find black and orange mold inside of it. McGee and her husband said that's exactly what they discovered in their Select Comfort Sleep Number bed when they decided to move the furniture recently. The McGees think the mold developed because of moisture from an air chamber that was trapped within the bed's layers. The air chamber enabled the mattress' firmness to be adjusted. " I'm worried about what kind of health issues this has caused for us, " said McGee. " We have three kids who have all been in the bed with us. " A Select Comfort spokesperson said they are sending the family replacement parts that will put the bed in like-new condition. The McGees were told that they should unzip the bed to let it air out once per week. They were also advised to wipe down the inside of the mattress with bleach on a regular basis. " I don't have time to care for my mattress like that, it's ridiculous, " McGee said.
