Guest guest
This is a very interesting article and the patients were lucky because the docs recognized and treated the fungal infection. However, because of the disparate treatment, the same infection or similar, from a building or workplace would NOT be diagnosed because of the discriminatory treatment forced by the insurance companies, hospital adminstration and the government - driven by policies that preclude 'certain' diseases from being properly diagnosed. The 'powers that be' would rather you die, than competently be diagnosed. This is no less scandalous Agent Orange calamity of the Vietnam era. It is essentially an " Agent Orange " type scandal in the American public. The acquisition of the infection place is critical. If you get it in a school or workplace, or institutional setting, no one wants to hear it and OSHA doesn't know your name. If you acquire it in the agrarian setting, the docs are fully prepared and versed in treatment. This boggles my mind as the docs all read the same books in med school. Can it be they just selectively " forget " the microbiology and mycology they learned? I doubt it. Also, the Canadian MSDS lists are set up so that REAL people can understand their meaning. In the US they are written in chemi-babble so that the dangers are not understood. In Canada, substances are given a Level 'value' for precautions, such as gloves, masks, gowns and that sort of thing. It is interesting that the article featured Canadian standards and treatment. Perhaps the many cowardly American docs could take a snapshot of how the neighbors to the north do business. Thanks for the posting of this article. tigerpaw2c <tigerpaw2c@...> a écrit : Obscure fungal infection defies diagnosis Globe and Mail - Canada CELIA MILNE October 12, 2007 http://www.theglobeandmail.com/servlet/story/RTGAM.20071012.wlfungus1 2/BNStory/specialScienceandHealth/home
