Guest guest
Mold wreaks havoc for one family 49abcnews.com - Topeka,KS* Story by Liz Zamora Wednesday, October 10, 2007 http://www.49abcnews.com/news/2007/oct/10/mold_wreaks_havoc_one_famil y/ Little Kaleb Maynard is having a ball playing outside. But it's inside this house where his mother Maynard says he and his brother can't be. " There's mold right there and they came and scraped the mold off, " said. Maynard says the mold in her rental home has gotten her and her children sick. " They gag and they cough and they cough up green mucous, " said. " This was all mold. This is my son's closet. " She took her sons to the doctor to get them checked out. " He got an antibiotic and that's when I got the note saying my child can't be in the house, " said. After receiving the note from the doctor, she moved both boys out. " Payton's with his dad. That means he's not getting sick, " Stah's son Kaleb said. The management property Dunc1 sent workers to remove the mold throughout the house. We spoke to Dunc1's owner. He says the house has been inspected by the Topeka Housing Authority and the mold issue has been taken care of. Maynard says the mold has come back. " All they did was seal the wall back up and the mold is still there in between the walls, " said. And she shows us mold on the toilet that she says cleanup crews missed and samples of the mold they took out. " I know there is still a problem because I am still coughing and choking, " said. She is moving out at the end of next month when her lease is up and is looking forward to living with her boys. " I want to stay with my mom! " Kaleb said.
