Hello,I am posting this for a friend. In response to the recent shooting in the Midwest, she is making an emergency effort to aid the victims and families. Please send any responses to: Renu07@... Dear NYCCAT community, There was an immediate need to organize all mental health professionals in response to the shooting that took place in the Oak Creek Sikh Temple on August 5, 2012. The Sikh

Healing Collective became the name of that effort and has developed an intervention plan to support the Sangat for at least the next 6 months. All professionally trained mental health providers who join our efforts to heal our community will fall under this name. On behalf of this effort, we

are trying urgently to identify trained mental health professionals who

are willing to visit the Oak Creek Gurduwara on a Sunday in the next 6 months to do a 5-10 minute presentation in front of the congregation and/or facilitate a one-hour discussion group with either adults or children. All content and support materials will be provided to

you by Sikh Healing Collective. For the adult group, we desperately need those who have some Punjabi language fluency. This intervention begins Sunday, August 19thand

will continue every Sunday for the next 6 months. We have the infrastructure in place and the Gurdwara’s support, but we need enough people to implement it. We are looking for 3 people to be on site every Sunday. We have created a central calendar to sign people up for either the adult group (1 facilitator, preferably with some Punjabi fluency) or

the child group (2 facilitators to accommodate developmental needs). Please contact us to schedule a slot in our calendar. Let us know if you

prefer to lead the adult or child group and how many time slots you can

do over the next 6 months (even one slot one time is helpful). Thank

you for volunteering your time and expertise. As you know, there are very few mental health professionals in our community and it really needs us right now.
