Guest guest
, I am sorry about your ordeal, but it makes me sad that you feel that way about your illness. It is just that an illness. It is not part of you. It does say who you are. It happened to you. If the people around you are not supportive in these facts, than you need to find new friends. I know that's easy to say but I am walking the talk. Holding my head high while I drive the electric wheel chair Through Safeway a
Guest guest
: I've spent a LOT of time pondering why it is that mold-related illnesses are so freaky and hard for the human brain to, well, accept. Even with the trouble I had, I had a VERY hard time accepting how much worse it was for my neighbor who lived in the contaminated apartment below mine. I had seizures and I'd fall down for no reason and I had dizzy spells and hemorrhaging incidents - my doctors acted just like everyone else's on this list (before they find the guys who understand this stuff) and treated me like I was crazy. And I FELT crazy, but at the time, I still thought my neighbor was even crazier than I was. Thankfully, we took it seriously enough that we moved, as did he and his mother - only it wasn't enough in his case... unfortunately, he died of Trichtothecene mycotoxicosis a few months later. It's taken us a long time to prove what killed him. Not everybody will understand. Take care of yourself regardless of what others are saying. In time, the word will get out there and this WILL be better understood. ~Haley
Guest guest
a, maybe you are treated better and don't feel like I do. I don't drive so I can't really meet people. Unfortunately I lost my car 6 years ago and no one comes to take me out. I lived with inlaws for a year that continued to use products that hurt me and I basically had to stay in the bedroom for most of the year unless I went out to take a walk or came out to eat or clean. I never pushed my illness on anyone just wanted to be treated like a human being. I have only been to the grocery store all summer and daughters a few times. You have no idea. And I am very friendly, supportive with family. > > , > I am sorry about your ordeal, but it makes me sad that you feel that way about your illness. > It is just that an illness. Guest guest
Hope he does not have to work in that place. I would not want to be within 1/8 of a mile of that building myself. It stinks that people are constantly given choices that balance employment and/or homelessness against health. As far as peoples attitudes, I have left out the mold part on a few occasions just saying " toxic exposure " . I do worry about what people are thinking at times especially after some of the reactions I have received. I was recently questioned by a couple of detectives because of my mask. I told them I had a bad form of asthma and left it at that. Actually I was also constantly exposed to some very nasty neurotoxic chemicals that surely helped damage me back in the days when I could stil work but many folks are skeptical about anything I say. My family is the worst. They kept insisting that I needed to see a shrink even after I had seen a coupel who both said that although I was down due to being ill, there was definitely something physical wron whith me. Evne after my diagnosis and all the labs, my family sttil tends to treat me with a patronizing attitude. There is a part of me that is pretty darned angry about all of this. I guess we have to find constructive ways to deal with it. Sigh, S > > This is pretty disgusting. My husband was sent to check out an > apartment complex in our area. Guest guest
I wonder how the people in those buildings are getting along. Do any of them have health problems due to mold? I suppose if they complain of health problems and make the mold connection, they can write the CDC which will then send them to clinics run by the ACOEM. Then, they can ask for their illnesses to be listed in a tracking database, I suppose. Right? Right? (no answer) Thank you ACOEM for keeping these important and impartial records for our government's public servants. Privatization truly is wonderful as I bet you offer our government an excellent value over doing those tasks themselves. (And not to worry about unions, etc. either) Oh, the database doesn't exist? How could it when mold illness doesn't exist?? So then I guess the number of people effected by mold is zero, right? We all are imagining things? Guest guest
, You know I understand how you feel. I have some similar problems with my family. My bother for one doesn't believe I can possibly be sick from mold and that I should see a psychiatrist! He even has mold all over his bathroom ceiling. Last Christmas I was sick for 2 days after having dinner there. Haven't been back since. My in-laws just don't get it at all and have never told anyone that I am sick.I guess they think their friends will think I'm crazy & haven't even told other family members. Every time I talk to them they ask if I've been tested for Lyme Disease, Lupus, etc. Just yesterday after my husband told his mom he was taking me to the Dr.on Mon. (his day off work) she asked if I had had my thyroid tested. He reminded her that I've been tested for 4 yrs. & seeing the best Dr. in the area. They don't understand why I don't go to Hopkins to get allergy tested!!!!!!!!!!!! It makes me want to SCREAM!!! I have explained to them countless times about allergies vs. toxicity. I've given them Dr. Shoemaker's book to read , they returned it but obviously didn't read it or may be they just didn't understand it. I believe they think I enjoy staying home and not working and that I am a burden on my husband. It is all EXTREMELY frustrating. I have never wanted their pity, even their sympathy but I would like just a little understanding!!. I hope and pray your husband doesn't have to go into the building. If he does please tell him to wear a proper mask. I'd even have him take this clothes off right away then put them into the washer and go straight to the shower!!!!!!!!!!!!! We all have to hang in there!!! At least we have each other for support! Sue This is pretty disgusting. My husband was sent to check out an apartment complex in our area. The complex was shut down a few years ago because of mold. At one point the town was being sued by owners because they shut down the complex because of mold. Even the guy from the health department in the newspaper a few years back said it was the worse they had ever seen.
