I just have to let loose on the list because I feel that I am being

harassed by my former (sickbuilding) employer, United HealthCare.

I picked up the COBRA health insurance and life insurance last year

and have consistently paid them each month. Well, about 9 out of the

11 months I've been told by my pharmacist that I wasn't able to get my

prescriptions because the computer said that I was ineligible. United

HealthCare could never give me an answer as to why my status was

changed each time.

Last Friday I went to pick up medication again and the same thing

happened. Now I was paid up in advance this time - until Dec. 31st! I

called and they said it was because the new life insurance bill of $52

wasn't paid. However, my bills all state $0.00 balance for life

insurance. When I called them today about my 2nd attempt to pick up my

prescriptions, they said the same thing, that this bill that isn't

even printed yet (the December bill), was holding it up. It hasn't

been mailed out and is not even due yet!!! I paid for the Dec. bill in

advance last month so I am being penalized for paying in advance and

it is the life insurance that's being mailed out this week that my

medical benefits are being held up for. I'm thankful I haven't had an

emergency.

I called the NYS insurance fraud dept. and they said that this isn't a

crime, it's more of a clerical error, so therefore they couldn't do

anything about it. Does anyone have any other answers to this? I am

going to contact the State Atty. General and the Nader groups. I feel

that this is harassment.

Has anyone else experienced COBRA coverage problems with their ex

employer?

: Call your State Insurance Commissioner's office and demand to file

a complaint for poor service from your COBRA Health Insurance provider.

Also, call your State Senate/Rep. Health Committee Chairman's office and

complain to them concerning same. Then call directly to the president of

your COBRA provider and tell them your situation and what you have started

due to your health condition and the problems they are giving you relating

to mental anguish and poor health. And above all, document everything you

do... who you actually speak to, time/date and telephone numbers etc., and

what was discussed. And don't be afraid to tell them to get back to you.
