When you help yourself (self-help), who should you pay? What kind of payment can one possibly make for helping themselves? Self-help is not going to someone for help. That's a service being rendered by them. You can't go to someone else for self-help. You go to someone to have them facilitate you to question your beliefs. If they value their time, they will put a price on their time. Sometimes a price is set just to discourage others from calling on them. If others believe they need the help bad enough, they will pay the price. There's no sense trying to justify why people charge or don't charge for their time. I don't charge for my time, but I do insist on commitment from my clients to themselves. Without their commitment there can be no change. Commitment comes in many forms, and for each client it is different. That is the price they pay for the service I render. Some clients donate money and maybe they think that gets them off the hook for any other kind of commitment. Pay for a service if you must, but remember that self-help starts and ends with a commitment to yourself. There is no greater price that one can pay. --
