Journeys to Foreign Selves: Asian and Asian Americans in a Global Era Presented by Alan Roland Ph.D. Friday, April 27th 7:00 - 8:30 pmNPAP Meeting Room40 West 13th StreetNY, New York This presentation will argue that in an age where people and cultures have traversed the globe as never before, there are psychoanalytic journeys to foreign selves, and to a self that until very recent years remained foreign to Western psychology. Bringing together extended case studies from New York, India, Japan, China, and Korea, Alan also provides fascinating insights into the concept of the spiritual self and its relationship to psychopathology and therapy. Alan is a psychoanalyst with a private practice in NY and has been on the faculty of IEA and NPAP, as well as an NPAP Board Member. He is also the author of numerous publications on the interface between psychoanalysis and Asian cultures and persons of Asian descent.
