Guest guest
Welcome and congrats on all of the new babies and parents that have joined recently. We all know exactly how all of you are feeling after hearing the news of mds. We found out my daughter has mds about 3 months ago. It seems like a life time ago. My husband and I went through all of the emotions and the crying, the anger and asking God why? We both handled things in different ways which made it hard for us to understand each other. It is so funny but now only a few short months later we have both adjusted in our own way. I find myself as always thanking God for her every day, 10 times a day. I love every part of my little one even the mds because it is a part of her. I will not allow it to define who she is, or what she will become. You will find out in your own time as we all have that the extra chromosome 21 stands for all the extra love your little one will bring to your lives. Guest guest
Margarita, congrats on the up coming addtion to your family. My daughter is 1 and also has mds and triple X. I know right now how scared and emotionally drained you are worrying about your new little one. You are one step ahead of the game by knowing that your little could need help. I did not find out that my daughter had mds until she was almost 10 month old and it was only a fluke we found out. Some of the parents here will tell you that they did not find out about mds until the little ones were 2, 3, or even 4 years old. You will be able to get early intervention sooner than most, which will help your little one thrieve. If this makes you feel any better my daughter is 1 years old, she took her first two steps without assist of any toys. She yells first thing in the morning " I'm up " . She can point to her nose now. She loves taking a bath and playing with her toys. She so far has not had any health issues, thank God, except for one eye she is far sighted in. I am sure there might be some delays down the road but you just have to take it one day at a time. This group is really good at answering questions. For right now try not to worry and just be happy about the up-coming birth of your child. Things will all work out. Guest guest
Hi Margarita, When my son was born five years ago, I knew he was going to have Ds I never had any tests done. However, it was a mom’s intuition and when he was born it was suspected and the next day they were not sure. had changed so much from the day before and everyday he kept changing. I had to wait five weeks for the test results and it confirmed Ds. I did not know he had mDs until he was fourteen months old, because I went on line and found out that there were four different types of Ds. So I requested a copy of ’s kariotype and it had said low level mosaic. Right along ’s pediatrician kept saying it’s mild because he kept changing and looked like my oldest son as a baby. I remember in the hospital my friend Dawn who is my ob/gyn she request a social worker to come talk with my husband. As it turns out my husband was late and I spoke to the social worker. Her name was Maureen and I will never forget her. I said my only fear was will be able to do everything like my other three children when he grows up? Her response was mom to mom know one knows what the future has in store for any of our children. I carried those words with me and still do to this day. I thanked Maureen 1 ½ years later! Every child born with mDs is different just like any other child. I have four and they are all different. All I know is you are truly blessed! is a smart curious active five year old who has Sensory Integration and Apraxia. And it’s NO big deal. He was also just 3 days short of being five weeks early and I had a difficult pregnancy. We were all there at some point in being scared! All I know is you are going to love him and he will bring you great joy! Today all the promises of tomorrow await our children! Guest guest
Hello all... I have to agree with you . My Sydney, who will be 5 on March 17 2008, has had a few bumps, but as you said; it is no big deal! She is great and I would not change her for anything. She has a unique way about her and that is what makes her so charming and she knows it! Sydney was slow to walk, but now that she does, she is soaring and making up for lost time. All kids are different and each one has their own journey. On most days..Sydney is the easy child...what does that tell you. My best to you new Mom and Dad! mom to Sydney mds 4 1/2 , Zach 19, Kerry-Lee, 21. > Congratulations!! On the upcoming birth of your new little boy!! You are > truly blessed like all of us are here!!
