Colonized - Any person who is found to be culture-positive for an

antibiotic

resistant organism but has no signs or symptoms of infection.

G. Infection - The presence of an organism such as MRSA or VRE along

with

associated signs and symptoms of infection, such as increased white

blood cell count,

fever, pus, or erythema.
