Guest guest Posted February 27, 2012 Report Share Posted February 27, 2012 The Membership of NYSPP Is pleased to announce its Spring Scientific Meeting: " TRAUMA TIES" a play by Sheila Felberbaum, LCSW Discussion by: Dr. Arlene Kramer s Trauma Ties is a one act play in which the threads of early trauma are woven throughout the tapestry of the lives of the characters. Each person’s story impacts in a unique and interesting way upon the lives of the others, illustrating the profound effect relationships have on our ability to survive and make sense of trauma. The cast will bring the audience into various professional settings in which both clinicians and patients recall and struggle with symptoms of post-traumatic stress disorder. The discussion that follows will consider the effects of trauma on the analyst’s countertransference Sheila Felberbaum, LCSW, BCD, is a nurse, an MSW, and graduate of NYSP. She is also a graduate of New Directions: Writing with a Psychological Edge, a program of the Washington Center for Psychoanalysis. She maintains a general psychotherapy practice in town, NY, specializing in bereavement and also serves as a mental health consultant and staff support for the VNS and Hospice of Suffolk County. Arlene Kramer s, Ed.D., is a psychoanalyst and a poet. She has written on trauma in both her poetry and her analytic writings. She is a Training and Supervising Analyst with the New York Freudian Society and the IPA and a Fellow of IPTAR. Her psychoanalytic writings have helped clarify and bring to life issues of female development, perversion, loneliness, and the internal world of artists and poets. She is in private practice in New York City.
