Hi all !!!

I have a question about leaks. I had surgery on march 3rd and i consider it to

be sucessful. My headaches have deacreased dramaticaly. But there is one thing

that worries me. A couple of hours afters i woke up from surgery i started

hearring a sound coming from the back of my neck. It actually sound like a

squirt, sort of the kind of sound you hear when water squirts out of a water

gun. I usually hear this noise at night when i lay on my bed.

Can this be CSF or can it just be the healing process ....?

The doc did tell me to keep an eye out for leaks or puffyness on the back of my

head or neck. Non of these have happened yet, unless they are happening in some

way that im not aware about. But i do hear this noise ever since the day after

surgery.

Hi,

I am very glad that your surgery has decreased your headaches. Your message is

not clear about if you still have headache problems similar ti those you had

prior to the surgery. Since you said they have " decreased dramatically " then it

must be true you still have h/a symptoms.

Your story is very much like mine. That is, there are post-operative symptoms

that may be due to a leak of CSF. I have not heard a sound as you described but

I can say SOMETHING is going on or I wouldn't have the problems I do - nor would

you. My nsg said " no way " (why is he so certain, I don't have any idea)but what

is it then?

Please stay in touch. What you are experiencing strikes me as completely

plausible even if the medicos say " nah. " They told me it wasn't likely that the

shunting of my CSF brain cyst would not cause hearing problems but all I know is

that I woke up from the surgery with hearing problems in my left (shunt side)

ear. They also told me that my ACM decompression could not be the cause of my

vision problem in my left eye, but it was fine before the surgery and was

screwed up when I awoke from the surgery and is still bad. Don't get

discouraged. You may not have the correct answer but don't let them discount

the fact that you are sure SOMETHING is happening to you. After all, we LIVE in

these bodies, don't we?

Best wishes,

Alessandro
