Way to go Barb!

I certainly can relate, I am also the mother of 5 kids, and have just been

down that same path. Alyssa just had her surgery on 3/26/99, and she's doing

fine! Don't worry, things will work out.

Feel free to give me a holler in the next 3 weeks. I know that things seem

overwhelming right now, like it's all a dream you are walking

through. If it will help to talk with another Mom, I'm here.

Hugs,

Beth Bucholz

Hi Barbara

Boy I can relate to you completely. My daughter Jenilee had surgery at 7 and

I have three other children. Her Dr. was two hours away. We left the other

children with my in-laws the whole time and my husband stayed with me. I

just don't think I could go though it alone. But the worst part was the

surgery itself and leaving her go. And then the next day while she was in

ICU after that I could of handled it myself. she did great!! She didn't

even need pain med's. She didn't move her neck for a while, but that is to

be expected. She also had the blood patch. We donated our blood for the

patch to be made with. Her nsg said they never need blood transf. for this

surgery so we didn't donate extra for that. Jenilee is also having surgery

again May 3rd. She is having a tethered cord release surgery. I got lots of

different opinions on this one so it made it a lot harder decision. But we

finally decided cause the DR's that thought she needed it thought it would

stop her scoliosis and leg problems from progressing. I will be praying for

T.J. on May 3rd. and will remember since we will be in the same boat.

Any questions feel free
