just got my favorite science magazine , scientific amerian , on pg 26 ( apr

issue ) in the in brief collum ....

Reattching the head to the neck .......In the premier issue of the Journal of

Neuroscience :Spine , T. Glenn Pait of the University of Arkansas for Medical

Sciences diescribes an inside - out way to reattache the skull to the neck.

Such breaks , which can occur in accidents or illness , have be tough to

repair , because the base of the skull is thin and can not fully accomidate

supports needed for a bone graft , In Pait's method the head of a screw is

placed in the skull first , so that the threads face the outside . A special

bone plate is secured with nuts , and the plate is then screwed to the neck

bones , resulting in a connection three time stronger than screwing bolts

from the outside in . --P.Y.

gee id like to read the whole thing , sounds like a posible alturnative to

these halo long term situations ect . i wonder if this could help when those

c2 lamenectomies are deemed needed for instance ......anyone got access to a

good modern medical library who could track this down >> ??

the main scientific american issue focus is a report on tissue engineering ,

for those intreasted in stem cell research , id highly recomend it , some

facinating articles with potential uses for us zipperheads , those with

syrinx , and those intrested in medicines delivered through tiny tubes in the

spinal cord csf fluid ect , its in most libraries ect now.

ok the closet nerd is out in the open , ......yes i do like reading this

stuff ! and please no particle physics questions , they are over my head !
