NCC: Nina's this-n-that

Hi guys!

Things have been kinda crazy around our house lately! Trying to coordinate

therapists & dr's , etc is getting hectic -- everything happens all at once!

I finally got Nina in to see the p/t that specializes in lymphedema (what the

ped dr said it was last month) -- he put compression bandages on her legs and

she will be measured for stockings tomorrow. We also finally got an appt

with the edocrine dr for her hypothyroidism tomorrow (fortunately both appts

are in the same building!).

It's actually quite amusing some days -- like last Thursday, I had my respite

person wwatching Nina while i went out shopping -- then the early

intervention therapist came (who is a friend of the repite lady) and the

intervener from the School for the Deaf & Blind (who works with Nina to try

to improve whatever vision/hearing she might have) -- then the supervisor for

the intervener came (wrong day) and she had an intern/trainee with her, and

finally Nina's home health nurse -- it was like a great big party!

The biggest thing though is that I got a call (and have been leery about

" announcing " anything until it's confirmed & written in stone!) that Nina is

OFF the waiting list for services from the Dept of Services for People wiht

Disabilities!!! AND she is now on the Medicaid Waiver!!! I guess going to

the legislature paid off! I am still waiting for the " official " word -- I

won't totally believe it until I have to sign something! IF this is true &

solidly in place, my hubby can get the raise his boss wants to give him, work

overtime, and we can say " Ta-ta " to SSI (they are such a pain!). I am

keeping my fingers crossed!! It also means that when Nina starts preschool

this fall (sheesh, I can't believe she's gonna be 3 in Sept!!), I can get a

job!!! Things are looking UP (I hope there isn't another shoe waiting to

drop!).

Well, I better go, I hope I didn't ramble too much (lack of quality sleep

does that to me!).
