Guest guest
To add some thought to the question of what I did not learn in school. I think that all of us will agree that personal contact with the different types of personalities, anger, bereavement, illiteracy, pleas for help and how to deal with all ages of patients were just a few of the immediate surprises for me in the field. While different types of equipment, or usage of this equipment may have been overlooked, most of these can be taught in a small class or during slack time with seasoned paramedics. The hardest lesson for me has been the ongoing lessons of dealing with individuals and making their day a little brighter. When teaching classes, I try very hard to remove the thought of any prejudices that may exist in students minds. It makes our job and their lives so much easier.
