Guest guest
A friend just forwarded me this mailing she received from a group that monitors Federal and state medical privacy issues. http://www.patientprivacyrights.org/ I just saw that the comment period is very short, deadline for comments is tomorrow! (October 6, 2007) ------------------- Bureaucrats and political appointees have too much power over our private health records. Please send a message to the Feds stating loud and clear that there should be no " secondary uses " or any uses of our personal health information without contemporaneous, informed consent. " Secondary uses " include research, marketing, monitoring, data mining and profiling. The National Committee on Vital & Health Statistics (NCVHS) is accepting public comments on its recent report. The deadline to comment is Tuesday, November 6, 2007. The Feds propose to: * allow the sale of your medical data * limit your consent rights * abolish and prohibit real privacy laws * expand access to your data * enable tracking of you and your doctors * enable data mining, patient profiling and data linking Please click here and we'll send comments for you. You are able to edit the comments if you like. You can read Dr. Peel's in depth comments as well as the full NCVHS report. Thank you, Deborah Peel, MD Chairman & Founder Patient Privacy Rights Katz, MSW Executive Director Patient Privacy Rights
