Thanks for the advice but there is no way I am able to

pull out carpet. I will die if I do much more as I am

about gone now from too much work and being ill at the

same time. We are going to cover it with a sealant

and a cover which will block out any toxins, that was

why I was asking what others recommened as there are a

number of them on the market.

Also, we have thrown out most of our belongings, we

are only taking enough so we won't be naked.

Thanks again.

Jackie,

Jeff May has previously posted excellent advise on sealing carpet

surfaces by using an inexpensive thin plastic that is sticky on one

side. It can be found at www.pro-tect.com

I would recommend this over a liquid treatment applied to existing

carpet. Unless the carpet is clean and in good condition the sealant

won't stick well enough to provide a barrier. Even if clean, the

liquid will " seal " only the tips of the fibers on the surface and

none of the bottom of the fibers or the backing or the glue that

holds the fibers to the backing. Finally, the " coating " is far from

industructable, meaning walking and vacuuming will break and fragment

the " film. " Not only does this destroy its ability to " seal " but it

is now another particle contaminating the air and possibily our

lungs.
