Dear Chris' parents,

Funny you should ask. My husband, Rick, who has ACM1 with syringomyelia, has

WORKED high voltage power for about twenty years!

I know that high voltage power lines have been accused of causing cancer

clusters, however I can't possibly see any relation to those with Chiari, a

defect in the skull formation.

In Rick's case, I think that falling OFF those damned poles (scuse me!) has

caused him more grief the the high voltage itself. Good question, tho.

adults how may of you lived by or near high voltage power lines? Because our son

who is two has acm 1. He was born and raised at the house we still live at

today? The house is really close to high voltage power lines, and the power

company did come out to check the stray voltage before we bought the house, said

everything is in the correct standards which is safe for humans. But when it

snows or mists we can hear the crackling of the power lines. Could there be a

link? When the kids play in the yard the lines are above them. Maybe there could

be a link, just a thought.

hey , just hopped back online to get another Winamp player for 's

music.

And had to mention, you guys should see what I've read in the past, in the

scientific magazines about the studies of electricl fields and what they can do

to a body.

The scientists , (the ones I read from some time ago) , strongly advised

against such things as electric blankets , etc.

, you're a search engine,with that gargantuan brain, anything?

Hi --

Ironically my husband & I were discussing powerlines this evening (before I

read this post) -- we had actually looked at places before we bought the

house we are in now that were close to powerlines (and in one case the

substation) but decided against them because of that. What I have heard

about powerlines is that they MAY cause (or be a contributing factor to)

cancer. I haven't heard of any relation to birth defects. I first heard of

this when I was going thru Real Estate School several years ago. I think the

" jury " is still out though on what (if any) health hazards powerlines cause

(you know they want to be " absolutely " sure before they say anything one way

or another, so it may be another hundred years or so...).
