Guest guest
Jackie, Welcome back. I'm glad to see that things may be looking up for you, at least getting into a safe place. As far as the carpet I think Jeff has a solution for this, I believe it's a covering, but I'll let him answer. Nice to hear from you, KC > > Hi, > I am an oldie here but a newbie right now. Guest guest
>Please do not live with the carpet-the chemicals and toxins in the carpet will make you sicker-pull out the carpet before you move in and paint the floor-even if it is chipboard-a couple of coats will seal it- then use throw rugs you can wash. Please do not take anything from your moldy homes to your new home-even if it has been washed-the toxin is very hard to get rid of-5 years to off-gas, and it will contaminate your new house-it is amazing how much you can live without-many times people have said they could not live like me-but they would if it was the only chance to get well. > in other new homes. Guest guest
Hi Carl, The carpet is new, never been walked on or lived on. Had my choice, I would not have carpet but we are very lucky to be getting a new house so being picky will not do right now as we must get out of this mold house ASAP and into the new house as soon as we close. Should I steam clean the carpet first, even though it is new? Also, is there a brand of sealant which is better than the other? Where can I purchase the plastic which Jeff Mays recommends? I am really sorry for asking so many questions but I need to do this before we move in. We are suppose to close this week on the house! Thanks Carl, Jackie PS I think it was you Carl who told me in a post that living in a log cabin could come with worse problems last year when we moved here..boy o boy, where you right on the nail! At that time I was not wanting to believe you because we had just gotten out of a bad neighborhood but fell right into another mold pit which was covered up by the landlords! The bad neighborhood house before this one did not have mold but the 2 houses before it did..this makes the 3rd...really the 5th because thinking back in my life, I lived in 2 other houses with roof leaks so I had it up to ny ears (really over my head) with mold! There needs to be a law against houses having mold as it is hard to find a house which does not have mold in my neck of the woods. The new house is coming with a 10 year warrenty and I pray I will never have to deal with mold or an old nasty house again! I need a break from fighting mold and other allergens! I am worn out from the constant cleaning just to make the air a little better. This has been going on wayyyyyy too long! Right now we are having to heat with wood and electric heaters because we discovered the ducts from the central system had several years of dead rats in them this past summer..we believe this is what gave me a lung infection which lasted from early spring until OCT. The wood is not so good but I can deal with breathing it more than dead rats! As long as I am not hauling the wood and touching it and stay clear of the room while it is being put in the fire, I am OK...but, I do have to haul it when my husband is working and it is those times, I have the sinus pain and all sorts of issues going on. I know it is not good for me and my sensitivity but don't have long and will not have to do this Boone thing anymore! At home in the forest is not what it is cracked up to be...it's a lot of back breaking work and more stuff to cause allergies and plus this water damaged house...it had a leak for 4 months after we lived here and landlord would not put a new roof on, plus we have plumbing leaks which he refused to do anything about....it's been really rough but thankfully we are leaving!! YEPPIE! > > > >Please do not live with the carpet-the chemicals > > and toxins in the > > carpet will make you sicker-pull out the carpet > > before you move in and > > paint the floor-even if it is chipboard-a couple of > > coats will seal it- > > then use throw rugs you can wash.
