Guest guest
That is just great. $108k per family is certainly better than nothing to repay them for their illnesses, loss of hearing, athsma, etc. I don't know what the lawyers would get of that, perhaps a third, so after that, it's probably around $71k per family. Will this tap on the hand actually make the slumlord owner change anything, or whether it will simply be written off as part of their 'cost of doing business'? In the Bay Area, this is NOT much money at all compared to what they make by doing what they do.
Guest guest
In California, there is a percentage set by the State that the attorneys get, and it's 30 and 40 on amounts above and below 50K, I think, but I forget which is which. But all the court and expert witness fees get taken off AFTER the attys get their share, so you're really looking at the plaintiff families themselves getting more like 50% of the settlement - research and experts cost a LOT. ~Haley LiveSimply <quackadillian@...> wrote: That is just great. $108k per family is certainly better than nothing to repay them for their illnesses, loss of hearing, athsma, etc. I don't know what the lawyers would get of that, perhaps a third, so after that, it's probably around $71k per family.
