Guest guest
Mold found in Springs Charter school KOAA - Pueblo,CO* http://www.koaa.com/news/view.asp?ID=9444 A Colorado Springs charter school will be closed next week, because of concerns about mold. Some teachers, and students say conditions in some modulars at the Classical Academy East Campus are making them sick. In October, tests came back showing mold in at least two of the modulars. School officials say they're taking more tests this week to find out exactly what could have made people sick. So, right now, students are on an extended vacation. Robb Masoncup has four kids enrolled at the Classical Academy east campus. He lives in Peyton but, makes the trek there each morning, because he believes this charter school offers the best education. Lately, he's become concerned after some students, and teachers started feeling sick. He says, " I have 4 kids in these classrooms everyday, and I don't want my children to have future health problems. " Mold, and mouse droppings were found behind walls in a couple of modulars, but the Chief Operating Officer of the charter school isn't convinced that is causing the health problems. He says, " The relationship between symptoms, and what people are feeling; The medical community has to determine, and then can at least assist in this to see if these relationships exist. " His name is , and he says the school has taken all their reports to the health department. He says, " We're still in that somewhat of a discovery, and exploratory phase, and investigating. " The school is shut down until December 2nd. Crews are spending that time cleaning, and testing the modulars. Masoncup isn't convinced that is enough. He says, " So even after we clean all of these campuses, and make everything clean. How are we going to know that they are permanently clean? How are my kids going to go to school eight hours a day without a possible infection? " Masoncup thinks the school should just shut down until after the Christmas break. He thinks they should spend that extra time figuring out what exactly is going on in those modulars, and fix it before they get back. says they should be getting results back from the health department in the next few days.
