Thanks, for the reply. Our hygrometer right now reads 38% and it's a rainy,

damp foggy day and about 46 degrees. Basement has always been dry and all

walls have a coat or two of dry lock paint. Is that what it should be most of

the

winter

The doc quoted in the article said there is " no evidence that he knows of

that humidifying air reduces colds " but there are papers that show that

comfortable levels of RH can reduce respiratory and other symptoms:
