Guest guest
Hi Everyone: This is the first coincidence I have seen with someone with a dull ache in the back. Four four years before I ever developed symtoms of Hyperthyroidism I had a terrible dull ache in my back. I thought I had injured myself in the gym. I tried different things, Chiropractor, Physiotherapy. I used to rub it to try to loosen the muscles. The pain was in the small of my back directly above my waist. Then I thought I must be sitting too low in my car, so used a pillow. To make a long story short, this continued for 4 years then seemed to get better by itself, then I developed Hyperthyroidism 4 years later June 99. I'm wondering if the two are connected? Guest guest
Dear Ann, You and someone else wrote about aches and pains going away while hyperT. When hyperT, the body pumps out excess cortisol (sp?), our natural cortisone, which probably gets rid of inflammation. When I was hyperT, all my allergies went away (and came back again when I got better). AntJoan
Guest guest
Dear Kozy, For years, whenever I saw any kind of holistic doctor they always said stuff about my liver. I don't really know what the problems are, but it's definitely a weak area. I've been taking milk thistle to strengthen and detoxify my liver. I don't know if it worked, though, as I don't see those doctors anymore. AntJoan
Guest guest
Swan, I don't know if it is caused by metal toxics?? That is what I'm trying to find out. If it is or if its our emotions in our when we are going thru a lot of life changes that causes our health problems. Then we should try to find the root of the problem inside our spirits and find a way to take care of it. I'm just getting tired of the same problems. It seems that my homeopathic doctor keeps giving me different kinds of herbal medicine to treat it but so far its still there. I'm trying to figure out if its just medical... if it is another one of the symptoms of thyroid disease. I was wondering if others have the same experiences. If it is caused by the metal... then what kind of metal that could be invading our liver?? Kozy
Guest guest
My naturopath also has given me stuff for the liver. I take dandelion tincture, usually once a day, or whenever I remember. Given the importants tasks the liver has to perform, it wouldn't be surprising to know that it needs a little help. Guest guest
Hi Kozy, I think the liver may be the focus because in Eastern medicine it is the organ of emotion. I kept going to acupuncture and the Dr. kept pointing out my liver too. There may be a Western medicine reason too though. Isn't the liver ruined by high levels of metals? Guest guest
AntJoan, Kozy, I read an article about detox in Energy Times and it says: The liver and bowel work togethers to take toxins out of the body. The liver dumps thru the gallbladder and that goes into the bowels says Dr. Spence. Liver herbs help the bowel transit time to be decreased and get things through faster. Detoxification improves the liver's ability to digest foods and cleansing the bowels will help the stomach. The body will not clense the liver until you clense the bowels. If you are constipated it is very difficult for the liver to clense itself says Dr. Spence. We use herbal laxatives, like cascara. Fiber is excellent. Sickness and constipation go together. If the bowels are functioning well, it helps the liver. One of the key principles that I teach my patients to understand, recognize and follow is that their body is always right, says Dr. Mercola. Any diet recommendation or any lifestyle adjustment that makes them worse, they have to think seriously about stopping it immediately because that's the feedback that God gave us to improve our system. >From: AntJoan@... >Reply-hyperthyroidismegroups >hyperthyroidismegroups >Subject: Re: Liver Problems >Date: Mon, 12 Jun 2000 20:39:37 EDT > >Dear Kozy, > >For years, whenever I saw any kind of holistic doctor they always said >stuff >about my liver. Guest guest
Hi Kozy, The liver is involved in many functions. It is the site of much of the conversion of T4 to T3. It is also a storage place for many nutrients including minerals. When copper is low, iron can build up in the liver in a condition called hemochromatosis. When iron or zinc are low, copper can build up in the liver. These conditions can become very severe. For example in 's disease there is a genetic error which interferes with copper metabolism and copper builds up in the liver causing so much damage that the person will eventually die if he or she can't get a liver transplant. Zinc supplementation for 's patients protects their liver from copper buildup. It seems that most of the problems with the liver, at least in terms of metal buildup, are caused by deficiencies of other minerals. Other liver problems can be caused by toxic substances such as excessive alcohol consumption which causes a vitamin B-1 deficiency, which in turn leads to cirrhosis of the liver. However, if the liver gets adequate amounts of all the essential minerals, it remains healthy and is able to deal with toxins such as alcohol. When your homeopathic doctor told you that your liver wasn't digesting well, perhaps he meant that it wasn't functioning well (since the liver doesn't digest foods). The liver is involved in so many processes so that when you get sick you can be pretty sure that your liver isn't functioning well. The same is true for the ovaries--when you're sick most organs are not functioning properly. The problem with this type of diagnosis is where does it lead? What are you going to do if your liver has problems? Many people recommend " liver flushes " but I'm not sure that these are helpful or harmful. I don't believe it's necessary to go to these steps to recover your health and get your thyroid functioning properly again.
Guest guest
Kathleen, Yes, the liver is on the your right side. It is always constant. I have had a blood test done for the liver but it was negative. It was done about a couple of years ago. I should have it done again and see how my liver is functioning. Guest guest
I'll tell you. I was just sitting at the kitchen table and thinking one of those old thoughts and this time I did not hurt when I thought it. I have been laying off the processed sugar for a couple of days. YES I want a cookie and some ice cream with it. But I also want to go to work and work out of my home and can't do all of it when i am so tired. Maybe it's just the day for thoughts working in and out without hurting. I wonder if it co-incides with the fact that I am working and building a library-I am all by myself ALL DAY ALL DAY ALL DAY-I can't hear a phone or music....I just organize and organize and work with my hands and I am so at peace. And then the day was gorgeous when i left work 'like paradise.' I noticed I hadn't cried all day. When i worked at the pediatric cardiology clinic I cried all day because I know a gal at the age of 15 who passed away at that hospital in cardiology. I have no doubt I feel better without being around pissed off, stupid people. And the people I do see are sweet and not even angry at their job. I even confronted a guy about not doing the alignment he said his worker did-NOPE did not. My daughter took the car to a different mechanic-NOPE did not. And I just walked away from the call and in 10 minutes didn't feel anger any more. Yeh, I need to work in a quiet, warm place. Swan
Guest guest
Hi Swan I believe it makes a huge difference to like where you work and what you do. I was the most miserable ever for seven and a half years in a job that I hated, working for someone I had no respect for. I quit and have not regretted it in the least. Life started over again for me and for my family. I finally started to answer the phone again (I had been on call 24/7). Keep it up and life will be much more fulfilling. With that, you will feel better too. Swan wrote: > > I'll tell you. Guest guest
To Fransea, Donna and All, First of all, great hearing from you, Fransea. I'm sorry that you are having so many problems, though. Add me to the list of Lymies with liver problems. I started having pains in my right side that were worse than usual, and my LLMD noticed that my liver was inflammed. My liver enzymes were up as well, so he sent me for an abdominal sonogram. I was really scared that it was cancer...turns out that my liver has fatty deposits in it that are " stretching " my liver and causing the pain. Has anyone else had this? Fransea, I'd appreciate the addy of the liver group you're talking about. Also, has anyone heard from Marta lately? I haven't gotten mail from her in a few weeks...if no one's heard from her, I'll attempt to call her. Take good care, everyone. Guest guest
Hi Joan, I get sharp pains in my right side from time to time. When I went to physical theropy yesterday, the therapist told me that she sensed something was wrong with my liver, after touching my abdomen. I never told here about the pains either. She said " I dont want to scare you, but I think something is going on with your liver, not that tests would definately show something. She said that my liver is over worked, and possibly toxic." She told me that they can tell a lot about organs in our body by the way they move and feel. I never heard about this before, but now she has me scared, because I know that lymes can mess with your liver. Also, when I had my evaluation last week, I had no reflexes!! What exactly does that mean?? Do you know? I have heard of that being a symptom of lymes disease. Kim S. Namkrats3@... wrote: To Fransea, Donna and All, First of all, great hearing from you, Fransea.
