Library Director Dawn Bussey said officials started investigating a handful of leaky second-floor windows about a week ago. Once repairmen opened up some walls to locate the cause of the wetness, they found an organic substance on the insulation and drywall. It is being tested for identification, though Bussey said it most likely is mold. " Without test results, I don't know for sure, " she said. The study room has been sealed with plastic and all vents have been turned off. " The whole area is contained, " she said. " At this point I'm just trying to make sure that things are in good, proper working order, and as I discover these things, we're investigating them. " Bussey said there are a couple other large windows on the second floor's east and south side that also have been leaking. Those will be examined Sunday morning. After testing the library's air, officials found the study room had a high level of mold, but the remainder of the library's air was fine. Officials are in the process of removing the substance from the study room. " We're going to fix it just as quickly as we can, " Bussey said. The Glen Ellyn Public Library, 400 Duane St., was built in 1994 and officially opened in 1995.
