We had noticed awhile ago that she has trouble with her bowels. At the DS clinic they gave us GlycoLax to put in her bottle every day and this does help. Is there anything that they should be checking her for as far as her digestive system? I also had to share this. Isabella gave us a wonderful Christmas present. She was singing in church every time the choir started to sing, she started to sing, as she held her arms up in the air. This had everyone around her smiling. She also took 5 steps by herself. She was holding on to the coffee table as always, she turned around and grabbed her little walker toy. She then proceeded to walk to the dining room pushing her toy. This is the first time she did that. We were so excited! Guest guest
WAY TO GO ISABELLA!? Enjoy this time Sue, I had to listen to Karlee on the High School Musical Karoke Mach. all day yesterday!? Needless to say, I was happy to do so :>)??? On the other note, if it is constipation problems you are having, I gave Karlee NutriveneD Digestive Enzymes when she was a baby, so I'm not sure if she would have had problems or not.? I can tell you she never had any problems, but it could have been from the NutriveneD Vitamin regimen.? She eats lots of green salad and grapes and apple juice now, so we don't have a problem.?? Your call, but the NutriveneD worked great for us. Good Luck, Beets, Mommy to Karlee, 8, mds and Eli 3, a stinker! Digestive System Hi all I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Guest guest
I don't know if it has anything to do with the MDS or not but, has a milk and egg allergy. When we found out about it, we took him off everything with milk and egg and three days later, he was totally potty trained. For him, it wasn't a matter of didn't want to go on the potty, he couldn't physically control his bowels. Digestive System Hi all I hope everyone had a great Christmas. Guest guest
Sue I am so excited to hear that Isabella is walking! That is so fantastic! There are many reasons for digestive problems in people with MDS. You should go to http://www.ds-health.com/ to read up on the common digestive issues she could have. Good Luck! Guest guest
Sue - has also had digestive problems - been on gycolax and Lorelax (sp?) - now she is fine - but I make sure she has plenty of veggies (which she loves) and some prunes which are very sweet and she likes them as much as other fruit - so now no mediction for the GI stuff. I also make sure she gets 100% juice or Natures Harvest which is 100% fruit and veggie juice (my son will NOT drink it but she likes it) Darlene - Mom to (11) and (8) > Sue > I am so excited to hear that Isabella is walking! Guest guest
Just my two cents about the constipation issue . . . my oldest has MDS and was always constipated. Once we got the diagnosis I thought it was MDS related. However, my next 2 kids were also always constipated. My kids would eat HANDFULS of straight prunes and it wouldn't even phase them! The Dr. put my son on Mirolax, but by the time I got that perscription he grew out of it (around the time he started potty training). My daughter also grew out of it once she started using the potty. Our new Dr. told me it's fairly common with kids and a lot of them grow out of it around 2 or 3, when they start potty training. So, I would definitely keep trying different things, lots of fluids and fiber, but just watch it and if it's not too bad she may just grow out of it. Guest guest
it is strange you mentioned that because my doctor said the same thing. She is not too concerned because she does go. The strange thing is that things work for awhile and then stop. Like prunes will work for a week then it won't. Cantalope worked for about two weeks and then stopped. She is on gycolax and it seems to be working. She eats all of her fruits and veggies really well and I am hoping she will grow out of it I just keep my eye on the situation. Thank you and all of you for answering my question.
