Guest guest
My basement was flooded due to a water heater leak in August while I was on vacation. It was loaded with mold when I was back in about 10 days. The insurance company got a company to come in to remove the carpet and lower portaion of the panel, removed most of the moldy items, " Cleaned " the items like TV, and the books that my husband insisted in keeping. Wrapped the items together in a plastic wrap. However, the insurance inpector was first told me they would rip off everything in the basement to make it " unfinished " state, but they did not do it. I asked a mold inspector to come in, he did three air samples, one in basement, one in family room, and another in the backyard. The basement has zero mold detection, outdoor has 9, and the family room has 300. My family room do have stain marks on the ceiling for a long time ( could be from a bathroom leak or outdoor gutter leak?). Now, I really like the whole basement " unfinished " , I do not plan to finish it either. Am I asking too much? Should I also check out the rest of the house and make sure there is no mold hidden? Will Humidex work better than a whole house dehumidifer in terms of keep the house clear of toxins and radon? Should I be checked out for mold toxins? I has had a left ear infection and some joint pain during this period. Thanks for your advice, sorry for my long post. Hope
