Guest guest
Hi members and friends, All that was sent home was a form for the doctor to fill out and a release form that if somethinghappened to him I wouldn't hold them responsible. I don't have any problems with S.O. at all, except for the fact that 3 years ago the 6th grade teacher wanted me to sign him up and she saidthey travel a lot to our next biggest city which is 40 miles a way. That teacher wanted him to bein S.O. so that meant less time for her to have to teach him. Since I didn't say, yes, the next wayto try to get rid of us was to turn me into Child Protective Services. I tackled that. This school district is really big on S.O, but nothing else. I have been waiting on his job skills and life skillsassessments to be done. It has been 2 months now. Been waiting a full year for video modelingto be done. I have been asking all school year. It is in the IEP. They don't do anything to preparethese students for a job after school. I am going to change that. I don't see how they have timefor S.O. when they don't even teach. In her email she is telling me to fill these out and return them. She is not asking. There are no details about how it works. He is in middle school and will be in high school in the fall. I don't know the teachers at the h.s. I got on the h.s. website yesterday tofind a sped teacher to ask when the Transition Fair was because his current teacher had noidea and the LEA isn't interested in me knowing and keeps finding a way not to tell me. So, thish.s. teacher replied back with a date, but no time and location (on campus). This district does nothave a reputation of wanting parents involved. When we were doing his Annual IEP in January, whichI was not ready to do, they didn't mention S.O. then, so where does it even fit in the IEP? What do other districts do?Why should I say yes to S.O?How much of their school year does it take up?Where do they get the funding from? Anything else I need to know? Please share. See teacher's email to me below. Thanks,April Ms. The high school teachers have sent over two Special Olympics forms for my eighth graders. One is the "Official Special Olympics Release Form" and the other is "Application for Participation." The high school students do many Special Olympics activities and the teachers will need to turn these in this spring to prep for next year. Please turn these forms in to me as soon as possible, so that I might send those over to the high school teachers. Thanks in advance for your help.
