Guest guest
Possible mold problem closes family center The Herald-Coaster By Marquita Tuesday, December 11, 2007 4:27 PM CST http://www.herald-coaster.com/articles/2007/12/11/news/news01.txt Head Start classes are being temporarily suspended at the Family Development Center in Richmond after undesirable levels of microbial growth caused a shutdown of the building. After investigating the results of a roof leak, possible health risks were discovered and the decision was made to suspend Head Start classes and close the building for repairs. While the mold is being removed, Head Start students will continue lessons at home with the assistance of their parents, who were given resource materials from teachers. Newsome, communications director of W.S.S. Tri-County Child Development Council Inc., said she hopes for a short transition period, with the holiday break serving as an advantage for cleanup efforts. Alternative locations for classes are being evaluated, and classes are expected to resume after the holiday break.
