Guest guest
aquatic exercises, heat, Ben gay stretch exercises helped me. I have a hot tub. Boy do we spend money to alleviate the pain and actually the anti-depressant the I requested does take the edge off so I didn't mind doing that. I too try to control it with Darvon and I try to rotate drugs so I don't get tolerance but I have fibromylgia before my back problems and if I don't get my sleep, it all kicks in......the pain all over. Hang in there. I have something funny (not really) last week. A brown recluse bite my right breast while I was sleeping and I put off seeing a doctor and I did not know I was bitten, I just noticed a long blister, then it popped, then my skin started rotting. It was on Fathers Day when it turned black so I went to the ER. I thought the achy feeling was my fibro and I had just gotten a rash on my breast. NO-I was hospitalized two days with IV antiobotics and I go every day to have the wound cleaned and tissue cut. So it has taken my mind off my back! You have to have a sense of humor.......On my breast! Oh well, if you ever thing you have a spider bite, GO TO THE DOCTOR.........I can't believe I waited. Another lesson learned.........Bennie
Guest guest
Hi! You can call me Christy. I'm supposed to see my doc this week, and I'm going to talk to him about getting allergy tested. I never used to be this sensitive. But this week's been hell. It's been debilitating. I have a horse I can't take care of anymore without an allergy pill, a mask and an inhaler, followed by a nebulizer treatment.. (It's the regular Claritin, btw). I have friends I can't go near, just because they own dogs. Going to sleep is like laying down in a dust bowl, even after I've washed the sheets. I have stores I can't go in, just because they carry essential oils. And if my daughter goes to her friends' house, she has to shower the minute she gets home (because they have dogs, cats, rabbit and parrots) or I wind up having an asthma attack. It's driving me crazy. I only started having these really bad asthma attacks after getting the H1N1 shot. Like, emergency room, can't breathe bad. Then it got better for awhile, so I was only coughing. Then, right when it looked like I had gotten rid of the coughing part as well, I caught some upper respiratory thing and it set me back. A few weeks ago, I started cleaning and re-organizing the house, because my lungs felt well enough. Well, cleaning out all the dust and dirt that got kicked up, with the addition of airborne droplets of cleaner, has trashed my lungs. The slightest little thing, and I mean slightest, and my airways close up and I can't speak. How do I clean out my lungs from all the allergens that are already in there? Are there any herbal supplements or vitamins that can help? Thanks! Christy Intro well...one thing that could help with the sinus issues is to do sinus rinses. Â My asthma seems to be most often triggered by sinus issues and once we recognized that factor, we factored in a sinus rinse and salt water gargles to soothe the throat. Â I use a squeeze bottle thats made by Neil Med...you can get it at Walgreens for under 15.00. Â I find that easier than the neti pot as far as technique goes. Second...have you actually been allergy tested? Â If not, insist on getting tested. Â You may need something stronger than an over the counter allergy med. Â Another thing to keep in mind too is that for many people, the decongestant part of allergy meds can also be a trigger. Â I can take mucinex but I cant take the Mucinex D b/c that aggravates my asthma. Â I dont know if you are taking the Claritin D or not...but just thought Id throw that in. You also may need to change up some of your meds...there is a lot of trial and error in getting the right combination of meds sometimes. Â Again, maybe youve been changing up meds too..you really didnt say so Im just throwing that out there too. Theres also the possibility that what is going on with your lungs is something other than asthma. Â Your doc may be trying to rule out suspicions with the CAT scan. Â Its natural to be nervous about tests and stuff...but, if you dont go through with it, you may never find out whats going on...or you may do the tests and still not have any definitive answers other than you know what it isnt. Â If you are nervous about a reaction to the iodine injection, ask if you can take a benadryl just before the procedure just in case you have a reaction...im pretty sure that wont interfere with the results of the CAT scan. Good luck and welcome to the group. Btw...what can we call you?? Ann
Guest guest
Hi Christy. I responded earlier, but the H1N1 shot didn't trigger with me then. I have had the shot and know several others who have had it with absolutely no issues. However, I do know some people who devoloped flu like symptoms for a while which will aggrevate a lung condition. How long ago was it? And then I was fine, but, later in the winter about 5 months later I did get H1N1, and I really suffered. It took me two weeks to get even partially well, it wasn't pretty. Guest guest
I got the shot on either January 15th or January 17th (I have to look it up on my calendar). By the next morning, I could feel tightness in my lungs, but it didn't register. But within three days, I came down with the worst asthma attack of my life and my lungs bottomed out. Everything since then has been damage control. My lungs are now incredibly, irritatingly, frequently debilitatingly sensitive. My pulmonologist said that, given the severity of my reaction to the dead vaccine, that it's a good thing I got it. Because actually coming down with the virus would have killed me. He said he already lost 8 patients to H1N1.
Guest guest
That is great! I didn't expect any side effects, but, then again sometimes with regular flu shots I get a little sick for 24 hours and then that is it. But, I will say that whenever I have actually gotten the flu later it has been better than if I didn't get the shot. The only bad one was the H1N1. Well I getter bet off of here we are having a bad thunderstorm out there. Guest guest
I refused to have the swine flu vaccination, as I;d had the flu jab the year before for the first time, and I found that it made my asthma much worse. It may or may not have been the jab - I'd just started working in a school, I'd just moved to one of the worst parts of the UK for asthma and allergies, so it has put me off getting the jab againJennTha can tek t'lass outta Yorkshire...! Guest guest
Hi everyone, My name is Sarra and I currently live in Poolville, TX-near weatherford and springtown. But within the next 40 or so days I will be moving to Wills Point, TX which will be in Van Zandt county. I think it is east of Dallas. Terrell will be the next big town/city near me then. I am having such a hard time with my current doc...and only regarding my thyroid. I was on 200mg of the synthetic stuff and when I finally convinced her to put me on the NP and I am on 90 and I feel as tho I am slowly dying. JMHO tho of course. Because the blood tests say I am good she will not budge in upping the dose. But, my hair is falling out at an alarming rate, so much so I am afraid to comb my hair, I cant even do the dishes without breaking into a sweat like I just ran a 5k and it is like that doing anything, wether I am brushing my teeth or anything, you name it. I am so tired all the time and the weight thing, well, we wont even go there. I follow a nutrition plan and I don't even lose weight. One minute I am cold, the next I am sweating. I get terrible migraines and nothing helps. The only good news is that I have gone from having 3 periods a month to two a month. (but that might be my age! LOL) But because of my tests say that everything is in the normal range according to her, she will not do anything and wants to look for something else. It's like hello? I know my body and I know what is wrong but he will not listen so I am looking to find a new doctor that hopefully will go by my symptoms and not some lousy test results! Sorry if I have said too much, I am at my witts end. But it is good to meet some new people in the process. Lord Bless, Sarra Jesus was beaten-so that you could be unbeatable.
