Emma.

One of the things you did that probably really helped was giving her information

that she could process before she did it.

While you made breakfast, she could think about eating. And when she knew she

was taking a bath, she could do it as she had processed it.

The more I talked to Mom the easier she was to to handle. When the aides came

in and rushed her is when she fought back.

And we forget how much it takes of the mind to make a " choice. "

I know you're trying to be nice, but you might make her choices less

complicated. " Shower now or later? " That takes a lot of steps out of it for

her.

Good luck..

She was almost 89 when she died in '02. No dx other than mine.

Re:2008 and Millie is awake!

Well, grandma ate a blueberry pancake this morning and

didn't argue with me about taking a shower (FINALLY!)!

I just didn't give her much choice about either. I

just came in and said, " Happy New Year! We're having

pancakes for breakfast to celebrate. And then we'll

take a shower when you're done eating. " No choice and

no fussing, she just did it. I'm sure that'll be the

last time for a week we'll get her to do anything

without a fight but it was nice for a little change.

We're pretty much snowed in for the day. We got about

8 inches of snow last night. My boyfriend is outside

shoveling in an attempt to get the car out but I have

a feeling that will only mean it'll be stuck in our

long driveway later. Oh well, that should be funny if

he gets it that far!
