Guest guest
Trust me, I know what it's like having that strike of terror at midnight -- and typing " girls with Autism " into Google. At least your ped seems to be on top of it. It also sounds like he's thinking something totally different from Autism, too. Even IF it turns out to be Autism, that diagnosis is not the " parade of horribles " it used to be. There are MANY productive citizens with Autism. I currently have three students on my caseload with Autism. One of them is tops in his AP Calculus class; another excels in our engineering and computer programs; the other is a talented artist. My 6 year old daughter was recently diagnosed with mild Autism. It was a scary, sinking feeling at first, BUT is was WONDERING for three years. Hang in there! A. I really cant thank you enough for being there to support and comfort me. It makes me appreciate the importance of being involved, answering each others emails, just being there to let each other know that we care. I promise to try to be better about responding to emails in the future. We just returned from Kaylee's pediatricians office. Her doctor said that she was not concerned about Kaylee's lack of speech but she was concerned about Kaylee's loss of speech and sounds. She said that we should look for signs of loss of motor skill as well, if we notice any further loss she will make arrangements for testing with a neurologist. I am supposed to check back in with her in one month. Thank you again for your help. I'll let you know if anything new happens.
