Guest guest
I started going to a new country doctor which my husband goes to and got an x-ray of my sinuses. His office x-ray of my sinus was more clear than the CAT scans at the hospital, which showed nothing. Also, my dentist x-rays shows sinus infection. I am going to ask for a plain old x-ray if they ever suggest a CAT scan again. --- In , " happyruiam " <happyru@...> wrote: > > I recently told one of my Dr.s that I didn't think a CAT Scan he > ordered was necessary, due to the fact that I've already had 2 CAT > Scans this year 1 on my Brain when I was having Excruciating Migraines > (due to working in a small room with a huge mould accumulation) and 1 > on my L-Spine. Guest guest
my first diagnoses of chronic sinusitis was without any scans, they pit a little camera up in there and noted the lesions, ect. think it was called endoscopy or something like that. , " happyruiam " <happyru@> > wrote: > > > > I recently told one of my Dr.s that I didn't think a CAT Scan he > > ordered was necessary, due to the fact that I've already had 2 CAT > > Scans this year 1 on my Brain when I was having Excruciating > Migraines > > (due to working in a small room with a huge mould accumulation) and > 1 > > on my L-Spine. Guest guest
My allergist/immunologist wanted a CT of my sinuses, too. I haven't had it yet, but it seems pretty obvious to me that it is & that it's fungal in nature, esp. since they recently came out w/that report that some 90% or so of sinusitis is fungal, but then again, it doesn't stop them from giving antibiotics, which will surely worsen the condition. I can't tell you what to do, but I guess I will eventually have it done to see what's going on in there. I wish you well, whatever your decision! Guest guest
Why not do a swab and culture it? Cheryl <sunbum256@...> wrote: My allergist/immunologist wanted a CT of my sinuses, too. Guest guest
The only time I had a CT scan done on my sinuses was after seeing an ENT man. I knew he'd go that route. So then I went back for the results which he showed and discussed with me. He said, my right sinus was very narrow and almost closed up. With that he said, surgery is the only answer. With that, I said goodbye! Never regret not having had surgery having heard that it doesn't really cure the problem. And a few years later, might have to have more surgery. Guest guest
If the problem is very narrow sinuses, what can be done? I think that's why people end up having sinus surgery frequently and not just once. I went to another ENT after the ENT who said I needed surgery and he didn't believe I needed surgery UNTIL I tried some anti-fungal medication and I think Prednisone. It worked. Guest guest
Don't blame you for that. My PA did a CT scan finally because he said he wanted to rule out a brain cyst. I don't know if an x-ray would have shown that. Guest guest
they can clean out your sinuses if their clogged, without doing sinus surgery. as far as scans I had 3D cat scan.sinus and brain, showed much more than ct scan. > > If the problem is very narrow sinuses, what can be done? Guest guest
Do ya think the docs will say anything these days to get us to use their equipment? While doing my colonoscopy, they wanted to do a (forget what it's called) a probe into the throat. He asked if I had acid reflux, and like everyone else in the world, I did. He then said, you could have larnyc cancer. I said NO " one orifice at a time " thank you very much.
