Guest guest
It is a perversion, and I, too, was told that " I would NEVER prove that the mold made me sick, " and those fighting words alongside ridicule of children, with the same catalogue of symptoms as myself, back in 1998, also, like Barb, at the top of my game and career. And, I 'played the game' of going through 'channels' - and not unlike the story of the children in the forest picking up the breadcrumbs to find the trail - Hansel and Gretel - to escape the witch - I piled up the conjured reports and saw all the inconsistencies and b.s. trail running through them and also could see the city was 'in the tank' with the state, who were supposed to be the " enforcers " and such a joke it is. Mistake #1 is when the government thinks that people are stupid and cannot read and connect the dots of incompetence and coverups. The more arrogant the organization, the more mistakes they make. It is still the 'cart before the horse syndrome' - I had to go out and do the dirtywork to save my own life, and advocate for those kids, who were 'voiceless.' I could not save the lives of several teachers and staff who have been diagnosed with breast cancer - and some who are dead now. My own career plans detoured to law school. My own kids suffered with a mom who did not have the same high energy level. Or, any energy for that matter. They were taking care of me. But, those of us who have chosen the 'high road' are at least ALIVE, and trying new things to stay that way. Since I lived in the same neighborhood as my school, my kids would hear mean things like how 'their mother was crazy' and would never prove that the school was a sick building. As more people were diagnosed with breast cancer, and a few more died, that mean chatter ceased. When a local TV station did a special on mold, and I stood in front of the school being interviewed, there was more credibility that the building was indeed a 'sick' one. Unfortunately, the attitude of respect for teachers in America, is not on the same level as other countries. People say we work too little and are paid too much. They could not have paid me enough to be sick since 1998. It is the old 'burden of proof' thing we learned about endlessly in law school. Only those who can help themselves and piece together 'proof' to submit to a doctor that is irrefutable, do research on what might help and be ready for battle with the docs for treatment, that will bring us out of the 'zone of danger' for cancer and other autoimmune diseases, and believe, that this happened for a reason that might be beyond us. On this journey, I have met no spineless 'exposed' people, only those who want to make it better for everyone. Activism on this issue is 'shifting the burden' exactly back where it belongs - in the lap of the doctor who must listen to the catalogue of symptoms and 'properly' diagnose building illness, nothing more and nothing less. © LiveSimply <quackadillian@...> a écrit : This is a COMPLETE AND TOTAL PERVERSION of 'innocent until proven guilty' I think that an essential element of the solution needs to be some kind of method of addressing the various needs that is based on the desired output (people getting justice and compensation and appropriate medical care, quickly, and universal, safe conditions in housing being the RESULT ) and to get there we need to WORK BACKWARD FROM THAT POINT. I think that when you have conditions like many of us have lived through the inevitability is that people are going to get sick unless that is deterred. People should not need to relive the injury and endure this humiliating and UNNECESSARY hell.. If they have to go through it, they should be paid for it and then some. There needs to be a HUGE incentivization to prevent this happening. The system right now is completely designed to deny people justice, and they know it and laugh at us.
