August and September Focus Groups to Gather Information About HCS Waiver ProgramThe Department of Aging and Disability Services is interested in gathering information from people who use the Home and Community-based Services (HCS) Medicaid Waiver Program about what works and what does not work for them. DADS has arranged for the Texas Center for Disability Studies at the University of Texas at Austin to conduct small focus groups to gather input from individuals who use HCS services and their families. Persons enrolled in HCS, regardless of their support needs, are asked to consider submitting applications. Each focus group will last about 3 hours and will take place in August and September 2012. Focus Group Locations and DatesThe focus group discussions will be held in 7 different cities around the state. The cities and dates are:Lubbock (Aug. 21, 2012)El Paso (Aug. 23, 2012)Harlingen (Aug. 28, 2012)San (Aug. 30, 2012)Houston (Aug. 31, 2012)Fort Worth (Sept. 5, 2012)Longview (Sept. 7, 2012) August 1 Deadline to Submit Focus Group ApplicationPersons interested in participating must complete and submit the attached application on or before Wednesday, August 1. You may mail the application by folding the form over and using the postage paid reply, or you may fax the form to the Texas Center for Disability Studies at . Individuals selected to participate will be notified by the Center for Disability Studies between Aug. 1, 2012 and Aug. 10, 2012. During that call, participants will be provided more information about dates and the specific location in the city where your focus group will be held. Each participant will receive a stipend of $100 to assist with travel expenses and help compensate you for your time.
