Guest guest
son 13 in KISD IN HOUSTON, TX. 8TH GRADE AND AUTISTIC DEVELOPEMENTAL DELAY. I WAS TOLD AT ARD MEETING IN MAY 2012 BY SPEECH TEACHER THAT SIGN IS HIS PRIMARY COMM. YET SHE NOR NO STAFF KNOWS SIGN LANGUAGE IN THE SCHOOL. TOLD NO PROVISION. MY QUESTION IS HOW IS HE TO COMM WITH TEACHERS OR THEM WITH HIM. THE SIGN HE KNOWS I TAUGHT AND SOME FROM HOME THERAPHY. QUESTION...IS IT NOT THE RESPONSIBILITY OF THE DISTRICT TO HAVE SOME ONE WITH SIGN TO TEACH HIM SIGN AND SHOULD THE TEACHERS OF THE STUDENTS KNOW SIGN IF THIS IS AS TOLD TO ME HIS PRIMARY FORM OF COMMUNICATION. USING THE SIGN HE KNOWS THE STAFF DONT UNDERSTAND. TO ME THIS IS A DISTRICT THAT CAN NOT GIVE HIM THE BASIC FORM OF EDUCATION COMMUNICATION. THEY CANT COMMUNICATE WITH HIM NOR UNDERSTAND HIM WHEN HE TRIES TO THEM. HELP WHAT ARE OUR LEGAL RIGHTS, SHOULD IF THIS DISTRICT CANT PROVIDE ADEQUEATE EDUCATION PROVIDE IT EVEN IF IN ANOTHER DISTRICT.\ LORETTA ANDERSON VERY CONCERNED MAMA. LONLLEE1@...
