Guest guest
I have had two episodes of kidney stones this year and currently have a painkiller prescription to use for the next one - if needed. There are 5 different types of stones and the treatment (which is all diet related) depends on which type you have. Not all of them are calcium. I have been unable to " catch " one so don't know what kind I have so am playing a waiting game. In the meantime, if you Google the subject you will find that increasing your acid intake is recommended for all types. Coffee is good, as is adding lemon juice to water or apple cider vinegar at least once a day. I didn't find any connection with T3 or T4 and the stones, and I have been on natural desiccated thyroid for over 50 years. This is the first time I have had this problem with kidney stones. It is unusual for someone to develop them at my age, but I've always been young at heart! ;0 > > After a week of misery, I landed in the ER Sunday night with what I thought was appendicitis. Instead, it was a kidney stone. > > Wondered if anyone knows if the compounded Sustained Release T3 I'm taking could contribute to making stones? I know there is something that makes it timed release, and I know that Jan avoids that. I've heard something about T4/T3 and osteoperosis, which makes me think calcium is involved, but I'm obviously clueless as to any connections. > > I also read on this board someone connected Vitamin D to kidney stones. My Vitamin D initially went up after supplementation with Carlson's drops, then plummeted on the last labs, so I have been taking 8-10,000 per day. Too much? > > I've never connected kidney stones to anything except calcium intake. I don't supplement calcium at all, and my recent labs say I'm just mid-range or a tad above. > > I'm a little concerned as I have an upcoming Dr. S appointment, and he is requiring a Bio-metric test before the appointment. I have barely eaten for the last 10 days because I thought I had some sort of gastric problem. I'm also very uncomfortable buying vitamins just now to cover the cost of the test, without starting the research on what is causing the stones. > > Anyway, has anyone read of any connection? I'm willing to do anything to avoid the pain that I went through with that little evil stone. > > Thanks in advance, K >
