The action was taken after a meeting with Margeson of All Clean Mold Service in Hampden and after Mr. Margeson provided the board with a rundown of services his company would perform at the building, which is on Hollow Road, to remove the harmful fungus. The company's price was kept confidential to enable selectmen to go out to bid for the project. Selectmen's Assistant Kaye S. Worth invited Mr. Margeson to meet with the board after a mold analysis performed by Pro-Lab Oct. 23 determined there were elevated mold conditions inside and outside the building. The analysis was done after years of Town Hall employees complaining of feeling ill while working in the building. Mr. Margeson said that, based on the report findings, they should be most concerned about the high levels of cladosporium, penicillium/aspergillus and stachybotrys (black mold) spores found in the building. The Board of Health reviewed the mold analysis report at its Nov. 20 meeting and voted to request selectmen to hire someone to resolve the problem. Besides the mold, the Board of Health says, there has been recent evidence of rodent activity throughout the building.
