Hi Everyone,

We relocated to last year and I haven't been super active in the group

other than reading. I had found a family practioner that was open to writing my

prescriptions (combo of Synthroid and Cytomel) and drawing the right labs (so I

thought). However, my TSH came in suppressed (which it has been for years) at

..008 with a range of .45 - 4.5. My free T4 was low at .71 with a range of 0.82

- 1.77. And, they didn't draw my free T3 like they said. They drew total T3 -

UGH! Oh, and my progesterone level is low (I am 36).

I currently take 75 mcg of Synthroid and 30 mcg of Cytomel (15 in the morning

and 15 before lunch). I have been on this dose for 4 years.

I have three questions for the group. First, this is the lowest my free T4 has

ever been. Any thoughts on what causes that? I realize without my free T3 it

is hard, but any thoughts would be great.

Second, any thoughts on the progesterone? How could it be connected? Does

hypothyroidsim cause low progesterone? And, for what it is worth, I have taken

a compounded formula orally and felt awful even a very small dose. I tried a

cream and notice no difference. The only time I saw a benefit from progesterone

supplementation was via vaginal suppositories while trying to conceive my second

child.

Third, I have read through the boards and the Doctor List. There is a lot of

information there. I am looking for personal recommendation for a doctor who

isn't freaked out by a suppressed TSH? The family doctor I was seeing started

throwing out bone loss, cardiac disease, etc. when she saw my TSH.

As far as I how I feel, the last 6 months have been extremely stressful as my

husband lost his job, his grandfather died, and his dad suffered a massive

pulmonary embolism that resulted in a 3 month hospital/rehab stay. All this

after relocating just 6 months prior. So, I am tired, have gained 10 lbs., and

am irritable. Not surprising all things considered. And, I know that can cause

havoc with my thyroid. I am sure I have some type of adrenal issue as well now.

Thanks for any input!
