Guest guest
http://www.aaaai.org/media/resources/academy_statements/position_stateme nts/mold.pdf Dr. Portnoy has his name on this statement in the above. Can anyone awnswer my Question of why I became so very ill while working in a small room that had a huge growth of mold in it. And why did so many of my co-workers die, of Liver Cancer and Lung -Aspergillosis, of Heart Attacks and so many are still ill from working in this area. why does my left kidney hurt so bad? why am i not able to walk across the floor at more than a snails speed. why am i so weak after being exposed over and over to mold? Mold does not make a certain people sick? All I know is I became so very sick and had an attack on my mental state in such a high state of PANIC, I was told I was depressed and I screamed I am NOT depressed, something is wrong! with all of my co-workers too! and then been given a disorder called fibromyalgia? and after going in search of the reason for my illness, I come across MOLD as maybe being a cause, and I had forgotten all about the MOLD. OK I should believe these idiots that are saying that its just a coincedence?
Guest guest
Even though he remains listed as a co-author, Dr. Portnoy has spoken out quite publicly against the AAAAI mold position statement. He has said of his co-authors that he felt there was an agenda. I can tell you, that at the time Dr. Portnoy agreed to co-author this paper, he had no idea how litigation defense experts were writing medical association position papers that were not based on science, but were meant to be litigation defense arguments to be used against the ill. And although I don't think Dr. Portnoy has a full grasp of symptoms indicative of poisoning after exposure to microbial contaminants that are found in water damaged buildings, he is working VERY hard to try and educate the allergy community that what we are experiencing is not allergy. That we are not liars and we are not whiners out to scam insurers. He is working very hard to have allergists look to the indoor environment as a possible cause of illness. You can mark my words on this, Dr. Portnoy is a man of integrity who is sitting in a position that will greatly help improve the lives of many. Sharon K In a message dated 12/23/2007 4:40:04 A.M.
