Guest guest
I have a question regarding labs that do bloodwork. Has anyone used Quest Diagnostics, I am wondering if they have any question regarding the accuracy of their results. The reasoning why I am asking: 4 weeks ago, I had my lab work done at my endocrinologist, loved the results, there is an improvement, I went for a check-up with my PCP, the one who believes she can treat diabetes better than a specialist, and I go out of network to see the endo. She had labwork done, and wow what a difference, the endo labwork came back more in line with my meter at home but Quest came up with some wild results. . . The kicker was my fasting glucose. . . I took it at home, with a full drop of blood 20 minutes before the lab it was 121, I know it was high, but we are working on that. According to the lab it was 160. Can there be that much of a difference in 20 minutes time? My Hba1c with my endo was 6.1 while at the Quest it was 7.9 can it change that much in 4 weeks, while my average according to my meter has been around 130- 140 the last 4 weeks, and my taking my readings personally averaging them in a spreadsheet keeping them below 140 I take them every 2-3 hours through the day starting at 4:30 in the morning through 10:00 at night, so I can see what triggers what kind of reading. That is why, I have serious doubts about this labs reliability. Has anybody had any problems similar to this? Last year, I had the the same thing happen to me with the lab with my PCP, my OB/Gyn and my endo? The OB/Gyn numbers matched closer to my endo's than the PCP, all different labs. Is this possible, or am I just reading too much into it? Lily __________________________________________________
