Guest guest
Hi - Well, that opens up more possibilities. Thanks for replying here. I see you kept it clean and nice. :-)) Do you think you will be here one week? It seems the week/weekends available then would be: Friday, Saturday, Sunday August 1, 2, 3 August 8, 9, 10 August 15, 16, 17 (?) Does this sound right ? Or is the 15-17 too far into August? So excited for this and thrilled we spoke again! Wheeeeeeeee 2008 Gathering Hi All- It is now 2008 and time to focus on the 2008 Gathering. Part of the determining factor of when the gathering would be was around coming over from Scotland. Good news! I spoke to her this morning (her afternoon) and she said she could make it over to the U.S. the 1st week in August. She is still trying to arrange for flights and such. She will fly into Des Moines and I will pick her up. This doesn't mean the gathering has to be in Iowa. I (we, included) are happy to go where ever the gathering takes us. Even Canada! I am open to suggestions, hints, concerns, and help. The 2003 Gathering was a long weekend. Many people arrived on a Friday afternoon and stayed through Sunday late afternoon. Hoping this is doable for everyone for this years gathering. Please send out any and all thoughts to the group and together we will come up with dates, places, and such best suitable for everyone able to attend. I will keep all posts regarding the gathering. I already have a list of people wanting to attend. Any new members are more than welcome to make it as well. Hugs from Iowa- Sandie Pearce

Guest guest
How about a poll w/ the 3 weekends listed (I'll make it right now) - and those who are probable/possible attendees can vote on the weekends they CAN attend - and then we go w/ majority... to decide on the date... LOL - it's typical Lewy talk that we're saying probable/possible by the way... We're so used to probable diagnosis & possible diagnosis that we use those words instead of yes/maybe. Guest guest
I would imagine just about any of the weekends would work for me, as long as this is settled before the end of the month. Our annual vacations have to be submitted by Jan 31. I'm still a little unclear (sorry, please indulge me) what the gathering is about. Is it just a friendly get-together for a weekend of having a good time? is it more structured? I realize this is not an every year event, so maybe if you tell me what happened at your last gathering? I live in Northern California by the way... Engles SEIU-UHW Shop Steward ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
, It will be a caregivers meeting and I would think much like we do here. Talk and talk and support each other. I hope I can talk Sandie into some informal structure so we can get to know everyone. It won't be like the last one, as the LB DA did a lot of organizing there. We did do meals and a bit of sight seeing too. And lots of horsing around in the evening. So if I understand what Sandie wants to do, it is lots of caregivers sharing and getting real hugs etc. We haven't talked about where, so a speaker is possible if there is an MD in the area who would come and talk to us depending on where we have it. Hope this helps. Hugs, Donna R Caregave for Mom (after I brought her from WI to MI) for 3 years and 4th year in a nh. She was almost 89 when she died in '02. No dx other than mine. Guest guest
Hi - The gathering is ultimately to put faces to names. It is a way of connecting in person with other caregivers. Anything and everything else that happens or could happen that weekend can be decided amongst the group here. Once we decide " where " the gathering will be I will contact the area to see what is available and/or if there is anything else booked for that weekend. We can have doctors, luncheons, slide shows...anything ideas are welcomed. I would like to keep it doable for expenses as most caregivers aren't working outside the home and may not have a lot of extra cash. Just my thought on it all. The LBDA announced their Incorporation at the 2003 Gathering so we had LBDA board members there and a presentation on that. I shall write you in as interested in going. I am with you on the weekends. I work for UPS and we set our vacations early in the year as well. Keep watching for more details and jump in with any ideas or thoughts you have regarding the gathering. Guest guest
thanks. It does sound like fun to get away for a weekend and get to know my online buddies. Personally, I would REALLY like to keep the gathering within the US because it would save me from having to obtain a passport. I think that would be a dealbreaker. Let me know which weekend you all decide on! lisa Engles SEIU-UHW Shop Steward ________________________________________________________________________________\ ____ Looking for last minute shopping deals? Guest guest
, I was going to bring that up next. I think it might be a deal breaker for a lot of people. I hope those in Canada have passports to come into the States. And we are looking at far fewer coming from there. Guest guest
HI Donna, Reading this post reminded me that I'd better get cracking on getting my passport updated. How about if we meet in Michigan? Courage Re: - 2008 Gathering thanks. It does sound like fun to get away for a weekend and get to know my online buddies. Guest guest
Courage, Just got my computer going again. I could read. But my return email either just stopped in the middle, or I couldn't even write one. I think MI would be wonderful.. There is lots of things to do or places to go if people want to do other thingsl Yes, get that passport upgraded. Other wise you won't be able to go home! I have almost all my stuff together and just need to apply. Had pictures taken the other day. Hope all is well with your Mom and hope is getting pottie trained? Guest guest
HI Donna, I know how frustrating it can be when our computers aren't working - drives me to distraction. I would love, love, love it if we could all meet in Michigan for the caregivers gathering. I've made a list of all the things I have to get together for the trip and my passport is number one on that list. Courage Re: - 2008 Gathering thanks.
