WASHINGTON -- Some condo owners in the section of D.C.

said they are worried they made a million-dollar mistake.

They said they bought brand new condos in the Northwest neighborhood

and within months, mold started to creep down the walls.

Residents of the Meridian Crescent Condos said the problem began

last December after many moved into the units in early 2006.

The million-dollar condos along 17th Street boast beautiful

balconies with breathtaking views of the nation's capital, but when

it rains it also pours inside the condos, residents said.

" I mean I had sleepless nights. We had pans under the windows

collecting water, and nobody was responding, " said resident Al Salas.

" It's soon to become unlivable. The mold is a health issue. The

water leaks. It's likely to become a fire issue, " said resident Adam

Younoszai.

Condo owner Turow said she has water leaking from the ceiling

through the light sockets. She said she's called the developer,

Walnut Street Development, countless times but a solution has been

slow coming.

" They sent people to look at it. Most said, 'You use that light

switch? You're in danger of being electrocuted,' " said Turow. " We

don't want to move out. We want someone to come fix our leaks. "

Condo owners said they are not allowed to make changes to the

exterior of the building.

Walnut Street Development did not respond to calls placed from News4.
